In his latest video work, musician and artist Simon Hillme explores the fluid boundaries of identity and belonging in modern society. In a time when traditional structures are dissolving and new forms of coexistence are just beginning to emerge, individuals find themselves at the mercy of these transformations. Hillme illustrates this in three phases: the familiarity of past structures, the uncertainty of the present, and a speculative vision of the future.
The work confronts us with the tension between community and individuality. Where clearly defined roles and social affiliations once existed, a more fluid and blurred reality now prevails. This ambiguity can be both liberating and unsettling.
By projecting visual elements onto a building façade that transform into organic network structures, Hillme creates a vivid image of societal change. Accompanied by a sound design that shifts from static tones to dynamic rhythms, the audiovisual installation symbolizes the transition from rigid to flexible structures.
