Katharina Berndt

Goldbergpark

Mirror, Mirror (2024)

Berndt’s artistic approach is characterized by freehand drawings in which the accidental plays an important role. In her drawings, she creates metaphorical creatures with elements from the plant and animal world in a poetic, narrative style.

The site-specific installation for Goldbergpark is a 12-channel large-scale projection. The park’s trees serve as a canvas and as an integral part of the projected drawings.

The work reflects the ubiquitous self-reflection in modern media by questioning the boundaries between reality and digital staging and addressing the increasing fusion of personal identity with artificial, media-mediated images.

Through distorted reflections and fragmented image surfaces, the fragmentation of the self in a world shaped by social networks and digital platforms is made visually tangible.
